Thank you for smoking

Tobacco industry lobbyist Nick Naylor has a seemingly impossible task: promoting cigarette smoking in a time when the health hazards of the activity have become too plain to ignore. However, he revels in his job, using argument and twisted logic to place his clients in the position of either do-gooders or victims. The film’s director said it is neither pro- nor anti-smoking but it is more about political correctness and aims to make people laugh. It parodies both struggles in promoting and preventing smoking, with the tobacco companies resorting to giving obvious lies to people and the anti-smoking movements going too far. Good for discussion and interest.
