Useful for surgical outpatients, with pre-surgery letters and GPs. Smoking and surgery do not mix! It explains to smokers awaiting surgery why and how they should stop smoking as soon as possible. Smoking increases the risks of complications during and after surgery. Smokers need higher levels of anaesthesia and have higher risks of post operative chest infections. Wound healing is also reduced. It explains the benefits of stopping before surgery. There is a special warning for plastic surgery and skin grafts. It has advice on stopping smoking and contacts for getting help. Pack of 25
