Product description:

Quit is a set of 5 short and sharp campaigning films. 'Quit' has one aim: to discourage young people from smoking. Strong, visually alluring and attention-grabbing, these clever pieces will appeal to teenagers' vanity, their sense of social injustice and their sense of humour whilst presenting the medical facts about nicotine dependency. With high production values, these films have a commercial feel, and use a variety of styles - animation, documentary and drama - to communicate their message. o Supports PSHE/PSD courses and health and care courses, physical and emotional health, encourages responsibility for self and for others, encourages informed decisions about smoking, encourages a healthy, safe lifestyle
1. A Hole in My Neck Everyone knows about lung cancer. Few realise that smoking can cause tongue and throat cancer. This film looks at the consequences of smoking and follows an operation to remove a smoker's tongue.
2. Family Habit Teenage smokers are under the impression that it's easy to give up - they could do it any time if they wanted to. Not true. It's as hard for them to give up as it is for their mum or dad with a 20-year habit. We set a challenge: can a teenager AND her mum give up?
3. Greg's Story Greg is sixteen. He dreams of being a top tennis player. He goes to school, has a younger sister and a dog. He's just like anyone else his age, except that when he was 11 he found out that he had cancer. Greg's utter disbelief that ANYONE would choose to risk going through what he has experienced first-hand is a powerful reminder that life is full of hidden dangers, and that some risks just aren't worth taking.
4. Breath of Fresh Air Every year the tobacco companies need to recruit 450,000 new smokers to replace those lost through illness and death - and these new smokers need to be young. This film juxtaposes cigarette commercials and testimonials from tobacco industry executives with the experience of someone who fell for their marketing strategies - Alec - a man who now talks through a stoma hole in his neck after smoking gave him cancer.
5. Dog End An animation about passive smoking. Trying to hide his fags from his parents, a teenage boy subjects the family dog to his illicit smoke. Dog End uses black humour to explore the issue of passive smoking and the damage it inflicts.
