Big Cig puts the 'tar' into 'star' when his toxic tobacco talents appear at press and media events. This durable cigarette costume was designed and made by a professional theatrical costume maker. It has adjustable straps to allow it to be worn comfortably by people ranging from 5'2" to about 5'11" in height. The main body is constructed from leatherette, the top from fake fur and the face from black gauze, which allows good vision out without being seen. The armholes allow 'Big Cig' to hand out leaflets, shake hands, slap on a giant nicotine patch or stub out a giant cig. Big Cig occupants look best wearing a white long sleeved top and white gloves. The costume comes packed in a box. The top section of the outfit is stiffened and the lower sections can be compressed. Big Cig comes with care instructions and plenty of ideas for publicity:
Here are some examples:
- Show him a red card at a football match
- Give him a patch and quit advice from an advisor or pharmacist
- Stick 'Post-it' labels with diseases caused by tobacco onto Big Cig
- Arm Big Cig and helpers with carbon monoxide breath monitors to test smokers and give stop smoking advice and leaflets.
