By Vishnee Sauntoo, Marketing Director, No Smoking Day
After 29 years of No Smoking Day,
it’s always a challenge to come up
with a fresh, motivating theme – but
with ‘Take the Leap’ we’ve done it!
2012 is the year of activity, with the
Olympics in London and football
events like Euro 2012. It’s a great
opportunity to help and support
smokers to quit smoking and start a
new healthy lifestyle.
It’s also a leap year so take advantage
of a two week window to prepare
your smokers for No Smoking Day –
Wednesday 14 March.
The theme strives to be empowering,
supportive and positive. Our research
with smokers has
given this image a big
thumbs-up. They find
the image inspires them
to take control of their lives.
The happiness of quitting smoking
also comes across very strongly. This
year, we have created double-sided
posters so you decide which side is
best for your displays and activities.
You could feature both!
The idea of leaping towards a
smokefree future is achievable. We
can all do that and we are hoping
to see some leapfrogging
events in March!
As usual, we have produced
a range of posters, leaflets and
promotional material such as
fuzzy bugs, money boxes, teddy
bears and the wealth/health
wheel and many more. These
are all to help you have the best
No Smoking Day ever! You can
buy all the materials through the
No Smoking Day website and
there are helpful tips and advice
on how to
organise an
event for your
target audience.
More exciting
news, the No
Smoking Day
charity has merged
with the British
Heart Foundation
making the campaign
bigger and better. By joining forces,
the No Smoking Day campaign will
be enhanced and extend its reach –
helping more people to quit – while
strengthening the policy and lobbying
work of the BHF.
Lastly, don’t forget to sign up for our
e-newsletter so you get the latest on
the campaign, and why not become
a fan of our Facebook and Twitter
pages. Have a great campaign!
