GASP round up of 2008 and introduction to new products for 2009

GASP had a busy and successful 2008.  The new updated website has brought in more international customers than ever before.  GASP now has overseas distributors.   The first year of April Age Progression software sales exceeded our expectations.  Ron Estey the CEO of Canada based APRIL paid a visit to GASP to say thank you.  He also introduced the new Age-Me vouchers to use online with your own digital photos to create smoker and non-smoker imaging.  These vouchers make it affordable for everyone to use the software on a pay-as-you-go basis with groups of people and at smoking education events.  Click here for details.

GASP has gone into film making with 2 short DVDs.  One is for smokers with Quit Tips and the other is for young people with Reasons to Stay Smokefree

For an interesting way to display the damage caused by smoking, GASP commissioned a pen and ink portrait gallery of smokers demonstrating the multiple effects of smoking.  The framed display shows 24 pictures from cancer to cash flow and coughs to concentration.

In 2009 GASP is introducing a range of costumes to use in addition to Big Cig at publicity events.  These include Count Tobacula, Captain Hooked, the Wicked Witch of the Chest and the Can-Can Kick It Dancer. Click here for details.   We also made lots of tailor made props for tobacco control publicity events.

GASP is now selling high quality low cost generic NRT.  Click here for details.  New leaflets include Joking about Smoking with over 40 jokes, Smoking’s History about the 500 + year rise of tobacco use in modern society and the efforts to control its fatal hold.  In addition the new ‘What’s in Tobacco Smoke?’ leaflet tells you not only the contents but the source of those toxins and what they do to the body.  GASP has 3 new posters.  A witty illustrated presentation of what young people would rather do than smoke a cigarette.    And not to let the tobacco industry off the hook, there are now powerful posters denouncing what the tobacco industry does in the community which is found here and another revealing the millions made by tobacco executives from the pockets of smokers which is found here

Tobacco’s damage to the lungs is a theme this year.  We have Smokefree Lung contrasted with a Smoker’s Lung showing emphysema and cancer and lashings of green phlegm in the latter. Click here for details.  There is a Sponge Lung and Tar to show how the lungs soak up and retain most of the the tar that settles in the lungs from smoking.

There are lots of resources for schools including an off-the-peg schools pack for secondary and primary schools.

GASP has maintained its association with No Smoking Day and provided sessions at all the briefing days for 2009 with ideas for developing the 'Take the first step to stop' and money themes.  GASP also set up stalls at many of the major conferences around the UK and met with lots of you who are doing the hard work of running stop smoking services, tobacco control programmes and smoking education projects.   To help you run stalls GASP is offering an ready to use stall called Toxins in Tobacco.  We can also arrange hire of a selection of display items for one of events.  Contact GASP.  If you need ideas or help with a project or campaign, GASP is happy to help. Whatever you need – just ask.
